Our Clinic

At Memorial Hospital IVF and Reproductive Genetics Centre Professor Semra Kahraman heads an experienced team of eighty. Using world-class technology, the centre has broken new grounds in Turkey and, cited in Europe and throughout the world, attracts a growing number of international patients.

Facilities

The Centre comprises well-equipped IVF, Andrology, Embryology and Perinatology, Research and Development Laboratories and a Genetic Diagnostic Center. It is the only centre in the country to bring all these units together.

A Pioneering Role in Turkey

Professor Kahraman and her team have pioneered surgical sperm retrieval, embryo freezing, genetic diagnosis of embryos, and many other techniques for the first time in Turkey, helping to bring about the birth of over fifty thousand babies. Professor Kahraman achieved the first pregnancy by microinjection (ICSI-IntraCytoplasmic Sperm Injection) in Turkey.

Preimplantation Genetic Diagnosis

For families whose children would be at risk of genetic disease, preimplantation genetic diagnosis is performed at the clinic. Through the diagnosis of disorders such as thalassemia, muscular diseases and hemophilia at the embryo stage, families are helped to have healthy children.  The centre is also able select embryos which are HLA compatible with a child suffering from a life-threatening condition. This allows the birth of a healthy baby whose tissue type matches that of his or her sick sibling. Stem cell and bone marrow transplantation can then be planned in order to restore full health to the sick child.

Training

The center is the first to be officially certified by the Turkish Ministry of Health as a private training center and has educated a large number of doctors, embryologists and biologists in the field of IVF.
